Transition Burngreave met for a social on 12 March. It was lovely to be able to combine food sharing, with getting to know people, plus sneaking in a few plans for the future.

For example, Lynn proposed the idea of holding a clothes-swap at Burngreave Environment day on 23 May [NB. This will now be on Sun 4 July].  Cariad checked out the situation with Rainbows End, and they will lend us a clothes rail and collect any unwanted clothes after the event.

Other things in the area:

  • Julie at Cristchurch organised a screening of the Age of Stupid - a thought provoking film about our crazy civilisation and it’s possible consequences.  There were 40 or so there and those who stayed after the film we discussed reactions and talked about possibilities for positive changes – globally, locally and personally.
  • There’s a Forest Garden being planted up at Parkwood Springs.  The aim is to setup a mix of bushes and herbs that can be harvested for 9 months of the year.  Find out about the next workday on 29 May.
  • Sheffield Renewables are planning to install hydro power at Kelham Island.  More info…

So that’s a quick round up.  Come and find us at Environment Day and find out about your personal Carbon Footprint.
